Saturday, August 9, 2008 Y 2:45 PM R.O.D. @ 08.08.08 (National Day celebrations) I would say it was one of the best school organized events as it didnt involve a string full of boring speeches but we had a loud rock band that we could actually sing along to and community singing was a hell lot of fun (: (End National Day celebrations) While you were at home in front of your large-screen HD tv set oogling at the Beijing Olympics Opening, thirty people were being ROD-ed in the school hall but it was nonetheless amazing! We had an awfully formal parade on the tracks at 5PM and witnessed the changing over of I.C.s. Sad stuff. Last time wearing full uniform and I didn't feel too stiff after a while, I might just miss it. Then we crashed the preparation scene and demanded food at 7PM and the Sec 3s had to guard the doors and ended up locking the Sec 2s out as well. But being the nice people that we are, we left them to their devices and did the red carpet walk (without the red carpet haha!) fifteen minutes later into the dimmed and fan-less hall (which reminds me about that feedback form i have to write about our school's sickbay) in our almost woollen jackets. We were seated at the front centre of the hall and started on the drinks placed before us. Yueting went back six times to refill her cup so i suppose it we were really thirsty (or maybe the drink was nice). The American Boy dance was first on the line-up and I think we did really well! Nobody screwed up and it was pretty well-coordinated ^^ I think Yiling had to put a lot of effort to lift me because my legs were all wobbly x) Then we ran off to change and returned to watch the Sec 2s dedication followed by the Sec 1s dance and the Sec 3s dance(s) which were all really cute and sincere and left quite a few sqdmates tearing! Then we had a nice video (packed with our pictures) that I srsly suspect to have come from the 60GB publicity harddrive and it was our dance finale! Which turned out really well too because I didnt fall on my ass while turning and the thrust fall went smoothly (: Then we got humongous load of gifts (which filled one huge bag that we lugged home) and the plagues were spiffy and glamorous =D A few of us stopped to get drinks at JE and sat on the steps with our large bags and uniform covers and we probably looked like runaway children judging from the passerbys' discerning looks. No pictures as of yet because we were busy rushing, running around and doing stuff the entire day. Four years seemed to have just flown past and I could still remember vaguely our first orientation session, clearly our pumping in the rain and marching in puddles, and vividly our mt K trip and the summit climb and one ROD after another. This is ours and now even this is over. Going to miss the sweaty RVNP days now that we are offically retired :/ [edit] koped from min ee's blog =D (click to enlarge)![]() [/edit] YRVNP! and the time will come when we have to move on Labels: My ROD deserves one label on its own |
